We are very aware that this years model on our label looks like he’s passing gas… 2022 will be known as the year of the Farting Pig. We think it’s important to have fun with labels – and we’re thrilled that our artist Donnie Coulter once again delivered a label we’re proud of.
2022 was a good growing year – but the crop yields were low thanks to the vineyard conditions during the 2021/22 winter. We are grateful to Vieni vineyards for once again allowing us to work with their fruit to make this beautiful bottle of rosé. This marks the first time we have revisited a vineyard since the launch of the “When Pigs Fly” brand – our last Vieni rosé was from 2018 if anyone is keeping track at home.
One of the three partners in 80x have been obsessed with delivering a Provence coloured Rosé. Mother nature has never cooperated fully to give us fruit that would allow the desired pale pink. This year Guillaume is satisfied with the colour – in the immortal words of Farmer Hoggett from the 1995 Classic Film ‘Babe’- That’ll do pig, That’ll do.
Beautiful rosy-peach colour, with aromas of strawberries, rainier cherries, grapefruit, and a delicate hint of gardenia blossoms. Dry on the palate, with crisp acidity that accentuates refreshing flavours of strawberries and cherries leading to a poised and finely textured finish.
As always, this wine is made with food friendliness in mind – and is best shared with good company, and a second glass.
